So, I'm new to the group. Sought out a group like this after getting conflicting readings from a pool strip, and getting two different analysis from HTH app. Just ordered my Taylor kit, so I won't go into my problem yet, without any accurate data yet. However, I have been reading through some posts, and have a couple questions. I see advice saying to chlorinated with regular bleach. Does that mean use actual grocery store bleach, or does that still refer to liquid pool chlorine? Also haven't seen any mention of powdered shock. Is that something we don't use here? Thanks for your replys.

You should use liquid chlorine. If you do use bleach it must not be clorox, no perfumes, softeners, nothing. Just bleach.

You can use it, but know that it adds either CYA, or add CH. Both of which rise over time with use. Only way to remove CYA and CH is to replace water.
