IMG_9548.jpegIMG_9551.jpegIMG_9550.jpegHey, newbie here. My partner took care of our above ground pool for the past 3 summers. Now it’s just me and I’m trying to learn on the fly.

I have a sand filtration system which I just had the sand replaced last week, along with a new sanitizer tub installed. I vacuumed the pool and have dropped a bunch of shock into it. You can see from the pics that the water has gotten more blue, but it’s not crystal clear. Still filled with lots of small particles of debris.

At a loss for what to do next. And when do I add the salt? Any guidance for this newbie?IMG_9304.jpegIMG_9552.jpeg

Welcome to the forum!
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100 or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool
