Hi there :)
I am a first-time pool owner. I bought a house that has 27by52 round above ground pool. Last weekend after a month of researching and watching youtube videos. I took a big chance and drained the pool , scrubbed it clean, and refilled with water within 48 hours. Thankfully the liner did not shrink and the walls did not cave in. I now have a beautifully clean pool. After changing my sand filter I discovered that the lateral assembly is broken. Not the lateral arms but the bottom stand like base. I wanted to know if I needed to replace the entire lateral assembly or if I could use it without the bottom base thingy. I've attached a few pictures of my pool before and after and the lateral assembly.

You need the base to hold the pipe up so it seats properly in the multiport valve. But you also need circulation. Order the part you need and temporarily reassemble things and run the filter on recirculate until you can fix it. That way you'll be able to adjust the chemistry and prevent algae.

Oh, and Welcome
