Greetings!

Second season here and still taking baby steps. Pool company helped me open but trying to take it from here!

Pool was clear and looking great after opening and successful AA treatment and dose of Metal Magic. Now deep end is starting to get a bit cloudy. Can still see bottom but not heads/tails.
Yesterday’s tests:
Cya < 30
FC 3.5
CC 0
OCLT 1
Ph 7.4
TA 90
CH 140
I have Been reading and reading and reading about dealing with cloudy water and now I have so many questions and would love advice about how to triage all these ideas to best solve the problem(s). Thank you!!!

*Do I need to SLAM? Or just start bumping up FC and see what happens? I’m afraid of stains retuning but stains are better than algae!!
*Am I using my (Brand new) pump effectively? Been running at 1750 for 12 hrs/day which skims fine but lots of air in pump basket (consensus Here seems To say that’s ok) but wondering if I should change that. Skimmers only. No main drain.
*lots of Daily dark brown debris In corners near shallow end returns; Been an issue since opening; it “poofs” when I brush it but looks like little brown “c’s” all over the pool corners; will do sock capture test today and see what I get.
*Dolphin pool vac grabs lots of sticky/fine gritty beige gook; thought it was pollen but maybe is DE? Something else?Pool tech who helped with opening said no rips in filter; He cleaned filter end of April
*waiting for delivery of DE and measuring cup and will backwash/rinse/recharge when I have it; pressure super low (like 8) due to low pump speed...should I put pump on higher speed when I backwash or is backwash an automatic default speed?
*multiport valve leaks/pools water on top and Spider gasket probably should be replaced...read that bad gasket could lead to stuff coming from filter into returns

So...yeah. Any advice on the best sequence here? Thank you!!!

Deal with the spider gasket and then SLAM Process Cloudy water and losing 1 FC overnight is all you really need to know. You'll be backwashing plenty once the SLAM commences.

I still have a single speed pump so I have no answers about what speed to backwash on. Mine does it at full speed no matter what.
Ok thank you very much!!!

Here’s an update with photos.
1)water clarity this morning with test results above
2) socks on returns for 1.5 hours caught this beige stuff (which is what the Dolphin catches a lot of) and also this debris
3) pool vac basket
still SLAM?

Can anyone tell me what that beige gritty stuff might be? pollen? Dead algae? DE? It isn’t sand

and what does it mean that such large debris is shooting out of the returns?

thanks!
