Owner builder in Southern CA, came up with the concept, ran the structural calcs, drew it up in Autocad, stamped it, got the permit and now an owner builder. My hands on effort was supposed to stop at pulling the permit, but I ended up digging it myself. Fingers crossed, all appears to be going well now.

Hi Kim, I'll get that build thread up this week, hectic week!!! Pre-Shotcrete inspection tomorrow!!! Yeh, I did use a mini excavator, unfortunately every cubic foot of soil had to be wheel barrowed down the side of the house though, very narrow access. The spa was mostly dug by hand, I was so glad to be done.
Biggy I can move this over to the under const. for you if you would like. It would be a great start to it with some pics added. Just let me know.
One wheel barrow at a time??????????? oh your poor hands, back,shoulders,,,,,,,,,WHOLE BODY! What did you do with the dirt once you got it up front? THEN you hand dug the spa??? Well I am not even going to tell you to measure it as I am sure you KNOW it is the right size since you dug it!!
