New to Slam and TFP. Few questions

Doing the slam process on my pool. I learned a lesson and discovered this site through this whole process. I was vacuuming what appeared to be grayish algae out of my pool daily for about a week in a half. Every day I would see a bit in the few wrinkles and middle of my above ground pool. I missed one day and we had a rain. Next day pool was tinted green. Before that I used the bag of shock you get at Costco (Clorox) to shock the pool. I would add shock once I got down to a FC level of 1-2.

Levels before slam started.
FC: 0-1
CC:?
Alk: 110
PH: 8+

Just have a 6 ways OTO test kit(rec. test kit coming Sat). Kept the FC higher than the 5-10 on the OTO test for about 7 days now. Also used a lot of PH reducer to get my PH and Alk down to 7.5 and 85 now. I think the PH is up a bit as I did get it down to 7.2 and it increased after I added more chlorine again to 7.5

Can’t wait to actually get a precise test kit so I can know if I’m doing the right things or not lol. The water is no longer green and I can see the bottom again, although I’d still say it’s a bit cloudy. Without know the precise FC and CC levels, I’m assuming I need to keep slam going.

One question I have though is since the pool is just a bit cloudy ATM, can we swim in it for the holiday or should we hold off still. I saw where they said you can enter the pool during SLAM but I wasn’t sure.

Thanks

Muriatic Acid is the appropriate means for lowering pH. Total Alkalinity is the measure of the component of the chemistry that causes pH to rise. If you have high TA, your pH will rise quickly and often, but the additions of muriatic acid to lower pH, also lower TA.

Without your test kit, it's hard for us to guess the condition of your pool water. Many, many, many people swim daily in water that is likely much worse than yours, so if you can see the bottom and know you have a good amount of FC in the pool, I'd swim in it.

So I have my new test kit kit K-2006c from Taylor and got these readings this morning.

FC: 4.6
CC: 0.5
CYA: 70-80
ALK: 115
PH: 7.5

The pool is clear now, but I have spotted a small bloom or two at the bottom of the pool along with very little dirt/algae in some creases (barely anything). Should I raise the levels back to slam for a few more days?

Second pic is of the filter water when I changed it this morning. I have been changing the filter 1 or more times a day since this happened and vacuuming about the same.

Also forgot to mention I did add copper into the water during the slam as well via HTH Aglaegaurd + Ultra. Seemed to help as well as the algae noticeably changed after that.

Can you let me know why or is it just an unspoken rule. Just trying to learn here
I suggest you read the links when provided.

It's all in the link he posted.

Judging by the color of that cartridge you added more than a small amount. Now just imagine that color staining blonde hair and finger nails...
Thanks missed the link earlier. So it’s just stains and possible coloration of hair. Not fussed about the filter as it rinses clean. We are swimming in it and I will take the water to the shop to test the levels. I guess we will see what happens to our hair, but nothing so far.

Sorry. Honestly missed your link earlier and wasn’t trying to come off as rude. I read your additional links and appreciate you posting them for me as well.

One thing that wasn’t in the links, but I am assuming, is the use of chlorine floaters/tablets to keep your chlorine levels maintained. I’m assuming since the recommendation is to use liquid chlorine that I should just check the values in the mornings and add the appropriate amount to bring it up again daily correct?

Yes.
