Hello from South Hampton, PA. Bought house with pool 3 years ago but couldn't move into the house as my project got delayed due to the pandemic. We have a 20000 gallon pool with connected spa overflowing into pool, also have a small water fall feature. Over the last three years I did not have time to open or maintain the pool so I had a pool company open and maintain the pool but now that I have moved, I am planning to be more hands on.

We have a Pentair set up with Compool LX3800 system. Last year the motor went bad so ended up buying Pentair Intelliflo VSF and just got a quote to upgrade to Pentair EasyTouch 8sc-ic40 with wired indoor control panel. Also, Install screenlogic2 for wireless interface. I am quoted around $5700.00 for a brand new system as my old system is not compatible with variable pump. I am also thinking about go from a chlorine tablets to Salt water system.

S,

The upgrade kit that I posted above makes your Compool into an EasyTouch 8.. As such it will control an IntelliFlo pump with no issues at all using the RS-485 cable.

Using the IntelliCom is a pretty clunky way to control the pump vs. using an EasyTouch.. After using the EasyTouch, I would not personally be happy with it. Will it work to provide you with 4 different speeds, yes it will.. Does your current ComPool system have the empty Aux relays to use it? You'd need one for each of the speeds you want to run, with a max of 4 speeds.

Thanks,

Jim R.

S,

If you decide to go with a completely new EasyTouch, then it only makes sense to buy an EasyTouch with internal Saltwater system. The saltwater EasyTouch comes with an internal power supply and cabling, plus the cell that is mounted in the plumbing. Cell must be at least 2 x the volume of the pool. A 20K pool needs a 40K cell as a minimum.

If you go with the ComPool upgrade kit, you can add the external power center and the IC40 cell.

If you get ScreenLogic, you will get control pages like this one..
