Recently replaced ancient original Ortega valves (circa 1978) with new aftermarket plastic ones.
Still very hard to turn, afraid they will break, anyone have some pics of correct positions? Have 24k gallon pool with spa.
Pool guy friend left them both pointing straight up which only served to start draining the spa. (Original problems, low filter pressure, and low pool vac suction. Everything else seems to check out, pool guy said there was water visible by one of the valves...)

Welcome to TFP.

Post pics of the valves we are discussing and some wider views of your equipment.

Ortega valves only swing in a 180 degree arc, back and forth only. Go all the way around and something is broken. "straight up" doesn't tell much unless we know/see the orientation of the whole valve.
