Brand new pool owner here, we are in the design phase of a new SWG pool in Leander, TX. After being told not to do salt water by several pool builders we have finally found a PB we are happy with and that will build us the pool we want. Although, he did say he doesn’t love SWG systems as he is often asked to remove them. After lots of reading on TFP we have decided to go forward with our choice and feel confident we can maintain it.
So my question is, what recommendations or advice do you have for a new SWG build? Since we are still in the design phase we can add or request anything we want. We do have to stick with Jandy equipment as that is what the PB uses. We have already made the decision to stick with concrete deck and coping to avoid the whole soft rock debate and we are fine with that.

Here is the current specs:
 Pool size: Freeform shape varies – widest point is 33’ x 21’ 8”
 Pool perimeter: 90’
 Pool area: 516 sq ft
 Pool depth: 3’ 6” to 6’
 Capacity: 15,284 gallons (w/ steps & benches)
 Coping: pre-cast concrete
 Waterline tile: 6” x 6” – tier 1 owner’s choice (excludes deco & glass)
 Step marker tile: 1” x 1” – owner’s choice
 Plaster: Quartzscape regular series tier 1, (white and grey backed plaster) - owner’s choice
 Lights: 1 LED white pool light
 Pool special features:
o Large tanning ledge w/ bubbler o 1 deluxe set of pool steps
o 2 additional pool benches
o 2 skimmers
o 2 floor drains
 Pool equipment: Glacier Pool Cooler, Jandy AquaPure Saltwater Pool System, Jandy pro series heater,
Jandy pro series blower, Jandy 2 HP variable pump, PS6 wifi enabled controller, and Polaris TR28P
vacuum.
 Pool maintenance kit: swimming pool and spa test kit, telescoping swimming pool pole, heavy duty swimming
pool leaf skimmer, & swimming pool brush with deluxe nylon bristles and aluminum back
 Professional pool start-up service, ongoing pool maintenance, and one-on-one “Pool School” instruction on
operation and maintenance of your equipment, (total of 5 visits.)
 Construction details: We go WAY above the industry standard in our construction process! We use 1⁄2” new
steel rebar; 4” on center on the floor, 9” on center on the walls and 4 bars on top beam. We apply 12” of gunite on the pool / spa floor and walls. Sch 40 is used on all plumbing. We also include 4-6 returns, (depending on the size of your pool.)
 Spa size: Freeform shape varies – widest point is 10’ x 6’ 4”
 Spa perimeter: 27’
 Spa area: 53 sqft
 Spa depth: 36” (raised 18” above hardscape)
 Capacity: 615 gallons (w/ bench)
 Coping: pre-cast concrete
 Riser material: concrete
 Waterline tile: 6” x 6” – tier 1 owner’s choice (excludes deco & glass)
 Step marker tile: 1” x 1” – owner’s choice
 Plaster: Quartzscape regular series tier 1, (white and grey backed plaster) - owner’s choice
 Lights: 1 LED white spa light
 Spa special features:
o 2 ft spillover
o Wrap around bench o 6jets
o 2 drains
 Hardscape material: concrete, (brushed or salt finish.)
 Hardscape area: 433 sq ft of new hardscape
 Construction details: All concrete is reinforced with 3/8” rebar, (18” on center) and 10-gauge wire mesh on top
of the rebar, (as needed.) A 6 ml vapor barrier (poly) is used to keep the moisture out of the concrete.

thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Looks great but one 1 light in the Spa and 1 in the pool? Curious which equipment line they aer going with for the pumps, SWG, filter, etc.

Tsp,

Looks pretty good to me, just a couple of things to think about..

Your Polaris TR28P vacuum is a pressure side cleaner, based upon 1970's technology.. I suggest that you remove it from your pool build and buy your own robot.. They clean better and do not need the pump running to work.. They look like this, and are from this Century...

Make sure that you get a SWCG that is rated for a 40K pool.. The bigger the SWCG the less time you will have to run the pump to generate that amount of chlorine you will need.

You will really enjoy your new Saltwater pool.. Excellent choice..

Thanks,

Jim R.

That’s what they wrote up haven’t given the lights much thought.... they are LED and she mentioned would be bright? You think we need more?

it’s the Jandy Aqua Pure system. I’ll attach the brochure. We will be getting the larger one meant for up to 40k gallons

Thanks! They are kind of throwing the Polaris in I don’t think we are actually buying it, but I will confirm and look into other options! And yes we will Definitely be getting the SWG meant for 40k gallons, I learned that here TFP!!

I would ask for at least 2 lights in the wall closest to the house if not 3. I think you will have a lot of shadows with only one.

I'm curious what more knowledgeable people think about the Jandy TruClear vs the Aqua pure system. It is newer and supposed to be better. My pool is not built but that is what I am asking for and rated at 35,000-40,000 gal

Beautiful design! We are also in Leander and had a tough time finding a PB that was comfortable with a salt system. We completed rebar and hopefully starting plumbing and inspection this week. Good luck!
