New solar cover

Hi,
We opened the pool this spring, and now have a solar cover on the pool - mainly to keep as many of the leaves out of the pool as possible. I have noticed when the cover is on there doesn’t seem to be any dirt, or anything in the skimmer. My husband wondered if it creates some type of vacuum and everything just stands still? It just seems odd? When we had cover off this weekend, when it finally stopped raining, the skimmer filled up pretty quickly.
I think I am missing something?

I think mostly the stuff just sits on the solar cover and doesn't move to the skimmer. That is definitely how it is with mine. Also, your pH rise will slow dramatically and your FC loss will also slow. And your pool will be warmer.
