Hello all,
I am located in Florida and just purchased my first home. It has a beautiful saltwater pool with a water fall feature. I grew up with an above the ground chlorine pool in the northeast, so I have limited knowledge as far as that goes. I am looking for beginner advice with the pool, as I am pretty handy myself. I am wondering if I should use the same company the previous owners did for 15 years of pool maintenance and continue to pay them for worry free maintenance, or if it’s easy enough and worth it to take it on my own. My wife and I have a bit of traveling coming up, we are gone for a week next week, and gone for a few weeks in october. any and all advice will be greatly appreciated

Welcome to TFP!!!

It is something you can take on. You might not try to take in on if you are gone next week, but when you get back you certainly can learn by October.

First thing to do is get a test kit. Even if someone else is maintaining, you want to know, for the health of the pool, equipment and your own personal health, the pool is safe chemically. Here is a link to the kits...Link-->Test Kits Compared

Next thing to do is to read through pool care basics, which will give you the first round of training. Link-->Pool Care Basics

We'll be here to help.
