New RJ-30+ cell, zero amps, 28v, 0000 salinity?

Thanks. Any idea how my brand new cell gummed up so fast? I was literally a few weeks. It taken month for this to happen previously with similar water chemistry.

I glanced at your test logs and with that slightly positive CSI, it can happen fast, especially in the summer. Mine as well. Not much we can do about water temp or CH with refills from evaporation, but we have to stay on top of the pH and TA. I can keep my TA at about 50 is I don't have to add much water, but the pH always tries to sneak up on me. Stay vigilant with the pH and that should help.

Wow I did not know it could happen that fast. If I lower my TA to 50, -.025 won’t be bad for my plaster? At TA 60 it would be -.09.

The SWG seems to constant raise my pH, but I am good about dosing with acid twice a week.

# 1 priority is stay withing TFP ranges. Within that try to stay slightly negative with CSI. I targeted 0 to -.1 without much difficulty and did not foul in the first 3 years. SWG does not cause pH to rise. Initially you may see a small local bump but when the FC reacts or is deactivated by UV net change to pH is zero. When you stop using tablets they are half CYA which is an acid and this acid needs to be replaced with muriatic acid.

I hope this is helpful.

Chris

I’m sorry I meant 0.25 not 0.025. At 50 TA, is 0.25 CSI not detrimental to my plaster?
no but you'll want to work your way down while staying w/i TFP ranges. See the link above for great explanation of TFP recommendations regarding CSI.
