I recently had my pool resurfaced using Miami blue quartz (white with quartz) and I’m getting mixed opinions on if this is normal. In the shade I’m noticing blotchiness and white marks throughout the pool, in direct sunlight it’s not as noticeable. It’s been 2 weeks since completion and I’ve been been brushing twice daily and keeping ph low. Owner who subcontracts out keeps saying you can’t judge a surface in the shade only in direct Sunlight but other pool builders I’ve had look at pictures are saying it’s a bad job. He also keeps saying it will get better but it looks the same from day 3 till now . Pictures do not do it justice but you still can see the blotchiness and white marks. I’m having him stop over tomorrow to see it in person but I’m afraid he’s going to dismiss this again and say it’s normal . Last pic is direct sunlight, all other pics are full or partial shade. Thanks for any help!IMG_4633.jpegIMG_4632.jpegIMG_4634.jpegIMG_4570.jpegIMG_4602.jpeg

Welcome to TFP.

Typical blue plaster mottling. Many come out that way.

Brushing is not going to change the appearance. Brushing is to keep plaster dust from hardening on the surfaces.

An acid bath may even out the coloring at the expense of removing a layer of plaster, wearing the plaster, and etching it.

You can also sand the plaster with 80/100 grit wet/dry sandpaper to expose the color under the surface.

Follow your plaster startup program for the first 30 days and let the plaster cure before you take any remedial actions.

Thank you, the owner directed me towards this quartz finish because it was white plaster with blue quartz embedded, some of the other choices were blue plaster with quartz but not this one.

Well the plaster guys did not do a good job of spreading the blue quartz evenly.

The white marks are where there is only white plaster and no quartz.

This is what happens when you choose a mix done on site instead of a factory supplied mix. Although there are often issues with a factory mix also.

You need to see what the owner is willing to do for you although he can’t put blue quartz in the white plaster now.
