So I've found the approximate sweet spot on my pool over the summer to maintain Cl levels at the right spot. Requires about 400-600ml of 10% hypo per day. It's been that way all summer. Unfortunately I ran out of my R-0871 solution. I had ordered the SLAM kit (the 60ml bottle) of it back when I was slamming. So I started using that. But now it's nothing near where it was before. Unfortunately it ran out just as I put the solar cover on so now I have two variables to deal with instead of one. But normally I would be at about 4-5ppm in the evening and add enough hypo to get to 8ppm and it would consistently be 4-5 the next evening. But with the new R-0871 it read 10ppm. I added no hypo and then this evening it read 12ppm... obviously impossible. I don't have a SWG. The drop look smaller than the ones that came out of the old bottle, but it could be a reference problem since the old bottle was smaller. Has anybody experienced this? I debate... is the new R-0871 not the same "strength" or has degraded? But I've had it less time than the old bottle. I looked for ways to transfer the liquid to the old bottle but it doesn't seem possible (at least not without spilling a lot of it. Any suggestions? I realize with the cover on, less CL loss should occur. But there shouldn't be gain. What's worse is I'm going vacation soon (hence why I wanted to see how much loss I had with the cover on) so was trying to figure that out, but now I have a new problem. Thanks!

Try wiping the tip of the new bottle with a damp paper towel between drops. This helps to reduce/eliminate a static charge that may happen with new reagent bottles. Do this for a few tests and see if it helps.

The new bottle is 2oz? How large was the old bottle?
The tips usually pop off with side pressure on the tip - above the threads for the cap. Practice on the empty bottle to get the hang of it.

Update your signature with your test kit - along with manufacturers and model numbers of all equipment.

Where did you buy the new R-0871 bottle from?
