Hi All,

Need your help. I just installed a new XtremepowerUS 1.5HP Inground Pool Pump 5280GPH 1.5" NPT and it will turn on and then shuts off after 30-45 seconds. I thought maybe I had the wiring wrong so switch that around and it did the same thing. I added a capacitor externally (didn't seem to have one already) and that didn't work, used a different power source...didn't work. Any suggestions to get it up and running? I've installed this brand of pump before and never had an issue. This is the first one I've had that is 2 speed so wondering if that is the problem.

Thanks,
Kim

Welcome to TFP.

Post pics of your pump wiring showing what you did.

Also a pic of the motor data plate.

A pool pump should never need an external capacitor.

How are the two speeds selected?

The pump 120V or 240V?

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My husband is only able to work on this on Saturdays due to his work schedule. I've attached the requested photos. There is a switch to select the two speeds. It says the pump is 230 volts.

Thanks,
Kim

I suspect the pump is defective and you should make a warranty claim and return it.

I might test it by bypassing the switch and connecting the white hot wire on the middle switch terminal to the yellow or black terminal on the pump wiring board and see if it runs.
