New PoolMath coming

OMG after using it for about a month still hate it with a passion. old format was something great which was layed out nicely. Miss the ranges and simple lay out . this looks messy and not thought out well. Just my opinion i know lot wont agree.

The new format is very helpful with the color codes, warning icons and directional icons. I tried to find a screen shot of the old format on my phone but could not find it. The current new format appears to be very similar based on my memory with the improvement in the icons and also when you touch on one of the parameter values (FC, pH, etc) it provides more information on the next steps to put that parameter back in range.

I agree with the missing ranges. This was very helpful. The latest fixes have made the new version much more usable then it was initially - but getting those ranges back in the logging screen would be huge. Was the decision to remove these intentional?

I'm pretty sure at least the pH adjustment recommendations are still off. I'm the first build, recommendations were way too low. Now it looks like recommendations are way too high.

From within the pH screen, the app said it would take 85oz of 31° acid to bring me down from 8 to 7.3. in the "effects of adding" section is said 48oz. According to the effects of adding section, if I add 85oz, it would tank my pH by over 1.0

I added 48oz and it took it down my pH down to 7.5. something is funky. My recommendations used to be much closer. I realize the pH still takes my other parameters into account but still something seems wrong

How about if the "effects of adding " screen allowed the user to enter those other variables such as borates.. Then it could be most accurate. I'm assuming the math is in the backend somewhere because borates are factored in when not using the "effects of adding screen".

The fact is, pH adjustments are never going to be perfect and will never be accurate if you try adjusting more than 0.4 units. The actual math of pH calculations is exceedingly complex when dealing with multiple buffer species and high ionic strength pool water. Most app and web programming languages do not support advanced mathematical algorithms. The best they can do is work off interpolated data. And whenever you interpolate data rather than do fundamental calculations, you will never get accurate results over large scale changes. It just is what it is.

I think I had mentioned it before but it might have gotten lost or perhaps just not in scope, but wondering if bringing back the ranges to the testing page is on the road map? Also the effects of adding Chemical Type List is not alphabetical, and there are no separators (such as there are in the dosing screen). It sort of reads like a random order of items. Maybe the seperators can be added similarly to how they are in the dosing screen? Or just put them in alpha order otherwise :)

They're in order of use for the most part. Otherwise we'd be scrolling for liquid chlorine and SWG every last time.

I haven't used baking soda in 2.5 seasons here. I'll happily hunt for it if I ever need it.

Makes sense.. But IMHO it's not inuitive unless the user is aware that is how it's sorted. Presumably that is why the categories exist in the add chemical screen. I'm just suggesting that those categories also be adding to the Effects of Adding screen so that it's consistant in both places in the app. Attached example shows how it's organized in that screen, for clarity.
