We just purchased a Coleman 10 x 16 x 42 above ground would like to not have to use chemicals. Pool water is being delivered later on this afternoon. What should our first step be thank you for your help in advance
Welcome to TFP! Having water delivered I'm assuming you're on a well? Unfortunately, you're going to have to use "some" chemicals to keep the water clear and safe (sanitary). The good thing about us a TFP is we only use what is absolutely necessary for those reasons. SeePool Care Basics for more info. We never advocate crazy pool store potions that waste money and do nothing.
I will say you'll need a proper test kit. As long as you have that, pool care is relatively straight-forward. We strongly urge you to consider either a TF-100/Pro-Series test kit (link in my signature) or Taylor K-2006C. I think the TF-100 and Pro-Series are better values, but you can choose. But you must have one of those. Ignore pool store free testing and advice and never use test strips.
Below is an article that should help you get started. Also be sure to bookmark our Pool Care Basics page for lots of great info.
