Just filled our new pool with well water and did a water test before adding any chemicals.
Total hardness 500
Total chlorine 0
Free chlorine 0
Ph 6.2
Alkalinity 180
Stabilizer 0
Now to figure out what to add, i want to go the BBB way if possible. We use the well water for every day use - scary.

Ha ha. Yes, I suppose it can be - but especially for pools. First, welcome to TFP! New water will not have FC or CYA, so we know your water will need those. Our temps will be climbing soon, so make sure you have at least a CYA of 30. Use the TFP Poolmath Calculator (links below and at top of page) to calculate how much granular stabilizer to add. Get that in there right away in a white sock to start socking (suspended in the water) and squeeze often to disperse. At the same time, add just enough bleach for an FC level of about 2 ppm for today. Your pH is quite low, so consider using some borax to increase the pH to about 7.2 for now. Borax is available as 20 Mule Team® Borax Natural Laundry Booster. It is sold in the laundry detergent section of most larger grocery stores and some big box stores. Borax is best added by pre-dissolving it in a bucket of water and then pouring that slowly in front of a return.

Now for the water. Well water commonly has iron in it. Does yours? If you are not sure, take a fresh sample from the well to a local store to be tested for iron. Ignore all the other tests or recommendations. :blah: We need to know if you have enough iron in that water to be a problem. Speaking of testing ..... how are you testing your water? With your own TF-100 or Taylor K-2006 test kit I hope? If so, please add that to your signature as well since it's about the first thing we all look for on any post. :)

Let's just start there and see what other questions you may have. Nice to have you with us.

Thank you sir i was still getting things cleand up around the pool today so i only added liquid chlorox. I do have mule team in the old ladies laundry room, will start working on the chemicals tomorrow. Never tested the well water guess i will have to do that. O yes i got the test strips from walmart for now. I also got a sand filter pump with the basket strainer
