New pool - when can we swim?

There is no wait period to swim in a new pool. Check your chlorine and pH and post here the results. I suggest a TF-100 test kit they are highly accurate. If you have a saltwater pool, you will wait 30 days to add salt and turn on the SWG meanwhile chlorinate with liquid chlorine (bleach) or chlorine pucks.

Given that all chemicals are balanced and good to go, can you swim during the 30 day wait time to add salt?
 
Yes. Swimming is safe between min and SLAM for your CYA level.

The eyes prefer a pH in the 7s but even if they sting a little at 8.2, it's not a deal breaker. Especially not with the newness of a brand spanky pool.

The other parameters don't keep you from swimming ever.
