New Pool, Pre-open or Wait? (Pics included)

I don't know how fat your wallet is so the liquid CYA is an option but it is quite a bit more than the powder. LOL that is a lot of sock but I tend to just walk around with the sock in my hand and squeeze it out and start all over with the next sock full. It is up to you and your wallet!

Haha I'll give the solid a shot.

Are there benefits to sock on a pole vs sock in a skimmer? I can do either easily enough, truly just curious.

I will tell you up front I am a worry wort........................I don't like the sock in the skimmer as I am always worried the sock will block the flow of water to the pump. Is that a well founded worry? Probably not but it is a worry so I recommend the sock on a pole.

We might be 2 peas in a pod. I tend to also play it safe :)

I'll opt for the sock pole. Thanks!

Living on the edge. Put the sock in the strainer (tied it in) rather than going for the stick approach - had to squeeze it in quickly before a family outing. Hope it's still there when I get back!

Stabilizer dissolved and no sock problems :)

pH was a bit low (probably from my mis-step earlier when I added pH down - oops). Added some pH up.

Unfortunately, I continue to be unimpressed with the Polaris VRX iQ+ robot vacuum. Not cleaning the beach entry at all, or any of the benches, or ledges, or walls, or waterline, or corners where walls meet the bottom. Yikes.

Heater is up and running and it's much faster than I had anticipated. Happy with that.

Lots of problems controlling things from the ScreenLogic app. It's basically doing nothing :/ It pulls some info in but no actions take effect.

Still focused on water chemistry.

Had hoped to surprise the fam with it being ready tonight for the first dip but chlorine is still high and I think it could use another day.

SWEET on the CYA/sock! booooooooo on the cleaner not doing what you want it to.

Look down at my signature-it has a link to the recommended chemicals or actions for each part of your pool water. pH can be pushed up by just rolling the returns up so they roll the water good and it is fun to play in when you want to.

Look at this chart: FC/CYA Levels IF your fc is just below the SLAM level for your CYA the water is safe to swim in!!!

Got some readings - I think we're OK to swim :)

A bit unsure about total alkalinity, the TFP test kit sheet recommends a target of 100 but the TFP ideal levels page recommends 60-80.

CYA = 40

FC = 8
CC = 1
TC = 9

TA = 70

pH = 7.9

Cool, numbers aren't bad then!

Will test again in the AM!

Going to spin up a new thread about my controller - can't figure out why my phone can "see" everything and all the current settings, but any time I make a change from my phone, it fails to do anything.
