Hello

I just closed on a house today, first time pool owner. It has a SWG and it appears the previous owners recently installed a new pump. I did water chemistries and I’m not confident that I did them correctly with the Taylor kit so I’m going to take a crack at it again tomorrow. When I was testing for free chlorine the water would turn from pink to clear but after a few seconds it would tint back pink again. Is that normal? Do I count those drops as the moment it turns clear even if the pink Tint returns?

The water level also seemed really low and so I am currently filling it with a hose. I’m attempting to attach some photos, but anything you can tell me about the set up would be helpful. Will post chemistries tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum!
Looks like a single speed pump. That is OK -- they did you no favors not putting a pump union on the pressure side so you will have some plumbing work whenever you need to change the pump. The suction side ball valves (red handle) will not last forever, so some plumbing work will need to be done there in the future.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
