Hey everyone, I'm a new pool owner getting ready to setup my first above ground pool.

We bought a summer waves 14x48 metal frame pool (in the light wicker print pattern - not that it matters). As a side note, it seems like this particular pool may not be a common model. The 14x48 size with the wicker patterns maybe are new models? I've not seen much online for them outside of the few retailers that still had them in stock about a week and a half ago when I ordered mine.

I accidentally posted here on the pool setup, but am now editing the post to stick with the category of this section of the forum.

My plan to get started on chemicals is to primarily use shock and chlorine tablets for my pool. I bought one of those In the Swim basic starter kits that has enough chemicals for a 7500 gallon pool. It includes a bag of shock, algicide, clarifier, stain away and some test strips. I'm not sure if I even want to mess with the algicide, and I need to do some more reading on the clarifier. I also ordered a liquid test kit, a bucket of 3" chlorine tablets, and a chlorine floater along with more shock to get me through the summer.

I've had kiddie pools in the past, even some of the larger ones out there, but never anything with a pump and filter. Those kiddie pools always were too gross to swim in after a week, and then they got thrown in the garbage at the end of the summer. I'm really looking to treat this properly and keep it nice and in control.

I've started to browse through the articles on here. I'm trying to soak in as much as possible before I get started to try and avoid things getting out of hand. I am looking forward to a usable pool for the whole family as the weather starts getting warmer.
