I have no real experience with pools, purchased house an in-ground pool that was used and maintained up until we moved in a week ago. I think the details of my pool are in my signature, but I'll include them here as well.
30k gallons
SWG
East Lansing, Michigan
Was using homeowners test kit, received my Taylor test kit today and ran all 5 tests. I'll receive my salt water testing kit this weekend.
FC - 2.6
PH - 7.7
CC - .2
TA - 70
CH 130
CYA - unsure looks to be below 30
I tested this morning before leaving for work, I looked back through pool school articles but I thought I remembered evening is a better time to test? I did a 10ml test on CC and FC and CC came back under .5 so I ran a 25 ml test to get a better reading. Water in test tube cleared up with one drop so I'm assuming CC is below .2. Ideally I would want to see 0 CC correct? So water should be clear even after the reagent to test for CC is added? Should I be concerned enough about this level to do anything or wait and test again this evening? Pool use was fairly heavy yesterday if that helps. Obviously I need to increase the CH to at or above 350. My plan was to do that first then see responses about CC level before adjusting the CYA level. Basically I filled the tube with the black dot to the top and could sort of make out the blurry black dot. Assuming I should target 12 pounds of dry conditioner - would a good plan to be to add in 4 pound increments and test again after each addition or smaller additions. Thanks all, let me know if there is anything else I should be including to get the best answers.
