Thank you for looking at this post...your experience is a welcome thing!
Trying to get pool chems in line with recommended levels. I am attaching a few test results to show how it has been going. I have included one from a sample that I took to one of the local PS and one that I took using my test kit using the SAME water sample! I wonder if one of our experienced members would be so kind as to offer any comments that might make my task easier.

I have had no luck in attaching files from my Mac...is there a help thread?

Hello! Let's just toss out the pool store results right off. They're usually wrong in test result and/or advice given. They're working to sell stuff...riight?

My first question is did you ever test your fill water? Particularly the pH, TA and calcium level. Please do so and report here.

The high level of TA is "pulling" your pH up, and requires some Muriatic Acid to lower. Here are the directions:
Don't use the Dry Acid for this as recommended by the pool store as it can damage your SWG device.

Next, I see no mention of a heater so you never need to add calcium into a vinyl pool. It isn't needed. If your fill water contains that much calcium naturally, we'll teach you how to manage it if it builds up to be a problem.

For a cya of 50 (which is too low but we'll address that after), your FC is too low. Here is the chart to aim for:

At 2ppm of FC, you'll lose that in a bright sunny day or swimmers. You want to strive for a level that lets you lose the daily sun-burn-off amount, and swimmers yet you still have a good amount left. I'd aim for 7 or 8ppm.

Your CYA is a skosh lower than our minimum recommended level for a Salt Water Pool. SWGs work slowly, dispersing small spurts of chlorine into the pool so your CYA needs to be high enough (but not too high) to protect that chlorine from the sun and stuff. I'd aim for 70.

Knowing your pool has chlorine to spare at the end of the day allows you to test the pool less often, maybe 3x week at first.

Any Questions? Just holler-
