New Pool. Moving from Tabs to Liquid

Needing a little guidance. New pool up and running for about a month and a half. I finally have my Stenner in and ready to move off the Tabs. What is the recommended process of moving off tabs and transitioning into dosing bleach via the Stenner? I have no idea where to even start in moving off the tabs and to the bleach.

Thanks in advance!
Chad

Use pool math link to input your pool size and FC level you want to achieve. Based on your CYA and FC sanitation needed you will know how much to dose. The paper work that came with the Stenner will tell you how much it doses per minute. Then you can adjust run time on your Stenner.

Thank makes sense. Should I take that number and divide by 7 then to get the amount I need to do daily?

Also, how do I come up with the amount I need to make up for that is currently being added Daily by the tabs? Is there a basic number per gallon's I can go off of?

I can help but I need to know:
1. What model stenner did you get?
2. Does it have adjustable flow rate?
3. Do you plan to put it on a timer?
4. What concentration of bleach do you plan to buy?

Each different peristaltic pump has a different flow rate. For instance, mine is 12 Gallons per Day (GPD) with the knob (on a scale 0 to 7) set on 7. But I only need about 0.3 GPD. So I put the pump on a timer set to run only while the pump is running and dispense 0.3 gallons while having the know set around 3 so that I had some room to increase or decrease with the knob.

So with the knob set at 3, you get about 5 GPD. (3/7)*12GPD ~= 5GPD

Then I use the timer to scale back from 5 GPD to 0.3 GPD by timing the pump to only run for 90 minutes per day. I actually have the pump turn off and on 5 times throughout the day to more evenly dispense the bleach throughout the day. Works great!

So I know how to get what I need to add for a 1 time dose. How do I back in on how much to start dosing daily to maintain? To make up for what the tabs are providing daily.

Really what you need to calculate is how much to add to maintain FC level, so when using PoolMath you don't enter the FC level you want to achieve but rather the FC loss you normally experience.

So in PoolMath
1. Enter pool volume
2. Enter bleach concentration you plan to use
3. For current FC level put in zero
4. For Target FC level put in your normal daily FC loss

The amount calculated will be how much bleach you need to add to maintain FC level day to day.

Just for example: our pool volumes are nearly the same. And I buy 12.5% liquid chlorine by the gallon. My pool is pretty shaded so I only lose about 1ppm FC per day.

Therefore I need to add 32oz of liquid chlorine (1 quart) per day

Ok. Got it. Thats one thing I havent tracked yet was the daily FC lose. I guess I can start conservative and go up from there.
