New pool high alkalinity

We just upgraded our pool. Had one of those little pools with the ring at the top for 4 years so I never closed a pool before. I also only balanced ph and chlorine with that pool. Just filled and balanced the ph and chlorine real fast on this pool but the alkalinity is super high. I need to bring it down quick as we a running out of warmth for the season. I added dry acid 3x yesterday but It didn’t seem to budge. Will I regret closing it with high alkalinity?

Please do not use dry acid...it adds sulfates, not good. Use muriatic acid to lower pH and TA.

How are you testing? It is super important that your testing be accurate, otherwise you could be doing more harm than good. Check this out (Link) --> Test Kits Compared

If you really want to reduce TA, here is a link (below). Hard to answer your question about "closing with high TA," without knowing your TA. What is your TA?
