New pool heatpump

The pool heater died so we ordered a new one. Plumbed ourselves and had the electrician wired up.
Fired it up and no water was coming out of the heat pump. Unscrewed the connections and water was going into the pump, but reaching a dead end or something. No water coming out. What on earth could this be?

You need to post pics of ALL of your plumbing so it can be looked over for you. It sounds like you have one or more valves closed incorrectly. Don't go changing things without advice though as you could deadhead the pump and damage it.

I don’t have a bypass valve. It’s very straightforward, water in, water out. Just replaced the existing heater. No changes. Talked to the company and they are shipping another. Thanks anyway.
