We just filled our vinyl pool with water today. It's about 24000 gallons. We poured in 4 gallons of liquid chlorine in front of returns. What should our next steps be? Do we test PH the next day and go from there?

Also, is there a rush to turn on our SWG or can we wait a week until deck construction is almost completed?

Congratulations on getting water into the pool. What percentage was the chlorine? If 10% chlorine, 24,000 gallons, you added 16 ppm. Have you added any CYA? How are you testing the water?

It's 12.5% chlorine, so we added 20ppm. We have not added anything else yet. We have the Taylor test kit. How long after adding the liquid chlorine should we do first test?

If you have the Taylor K2006C, you can do the fas-dpd like 30 minutes after pouring it in. If you brush you’ll know it was mixed in well. With a vinyl liner you don’t want to bleach out your pattern. How much CYA have you added? If none, you need to get some CYA into the the water pretty quick to buffer that chlorine.

Well UV rays will burn that chlorine off pretty quick.
Test your;
FC
CC
pH
TA
CYA

Post your results and a whole bunch of folks will be glad to help.
