By the way, as long as you are at Wal Mart, check around the garden area and see if they have a pool section. If so, they sell 10% chlorine and sometimes put it on sale for $2.50/gallon ... cheaper and stronger than laundry bleach if they have it and it's on sale 
If you have a Menards close by, they still have 12.5% Liquid Chlorine on sale for buy one, get one free, at $3.99 a gallon. That works out to only $2.00 for a gallon of 12.5%. Limit 6 free.
I wouldn't worry too much about your timer right now. You need to be running the pump 24/7 anyway until you get the pool chemistry fixed.
You are going to want to take that same pic each day so we can watch the improvement!

I am just down the road from you in york sc and our walmart just got a fresher load of shock, 1 gallon for 2.50 for 10%. Manufactured date is 091 2016. Added some yesterday and it hit my target so still full strength. They had it right when you walk in the door.

I turn it off at night becuse im afraid it will need to be backwashed and it could do some harm... i am looking forward to see the improvements in the photos too when you say shock you mean clorox? Will head to Walmart tomorrow possibly

Switch your port valve to recirculate.... then you don't have to worry at night. Put it back on filter when you can monitor the pressure
Great advise, i was wondering what that setting was for, taking care of a pool being a newbie takes time and having 2 little ones is difficult

The "shock" we are talking about is sodium hypochlorite. Laundry bleach is 8.25% or lower. "Pool Shock" or "Pool Sanitizer" is 10-12.5%. Same stuff. Just make sure it has a date code so that you know it's fresh. It usually has a 5 digit code stamped on the bottle. 16120 would be the 120th day of 2016.

meaning...? What products do i need besides 8.25% bleach (lots of it..) and what process do i need to follow? about to head out to aldi... and walmart if i need to.
thinking all the products from the current inventory (i showed earlier) are not good... i need help understanding about muriatic acid and all the products i need... I read some things in pool school but i still dont know exactly what products and where to get them.
Do i just care about adding bleach to bring up / keep FC at 28... every hour or so? That is during the day while sun is out, right? no need to worry about any other products??
