We are moving to a house with an above ground pool. We weren't able to open the pool until first part of July. It's been a mess! Found TFP in September. I'm on my 2nd SLAM. I can get the FC to correct level but water remains green. Will soon need to close pool & want it ready for the next season. What do I need to do?

Welcome to TFP! Let's start by learning more about your situation. For example:
- Can you post a full set of water test results?
- Update your signature and include which test kit you are using. See my sig as an example.
- Are you on a well there?
- Are you confident knowing what chemicals have been added to this water since you took it over, or even before by the previous owners?

I would also post a pic or two of the pool & water so we can see.

Okay, so some things to consider at this point:
1. Well water typically has iron in it which can give the water a green to ice tea brown color depending on the liner color. We can talk more about that later.
2. With a CYA of 50, your FC SLAM level should be 20 per the FC/CYA Levels (SLAM Tab).
3. Continue with the SLAM Process until you pass all 3 SLAM criteria. Make sure there is nothing in the water (i.e. ladder, steps, etc).
4. Ignore the pH, TA, and CH testing during the SLAM. Focus on the FC level of 20.
5. The elevated FC level during the SLAM can aggravate iron in the water. Now is a good time to try and filter it out with polyfill in the skimmer. Can't hurt to try before you close and also since you are doing a SLAM anyway.

Once you pass all 3 SLAM criteria, let's reevaluate the water to see if the iron is still reacting to the elevated FC level. Be sure to use liquid chlorine to maintain the proper FC level and stick close to the SLAM Process page for best success and let us know if you have any problems along the way.

Thanks! I took out ladders 10 days ago. Trying to be consistent adding chlorine, 2 or more times per day. Missed 2 days brushing & sweeping this weekend because we were gone. Will check into the polyfill.
