Hi All,
My name is Max and I am a lucky (sarcasm) person who bought his first house with the in-ground pool (~45k gal) last year. The house was bought in winter time and the pool couldn't be inspected for that reason. It is MA, so we do have winters. This is an old house, so the pool was also built a million years ago. Anyway, the first summer I had many issues with it and spent months to finally clean it up and get it running so we even were able to enjoy it a bit. Most of the pool companies tried to fix it, did almost nothing useful but charged me crazy money. In result I started to learn everything on my own and had many issues resolved already, however, some of them are still in place and I was hoping TFP could be a good spot to get recommendations.
Overall achievements in the last 12 months:
At this point the few key issues left to resolve are the minor leak from the brand new Pentair VS pump I just installed and what is the bigger deal - I feel that I have a leak in the pool as when it is hot I must add about 3 inches of water once a week. But one step a time... Let me post my questions in a dedicated topics.
Thank you!

Overall achievements in the last 12 months:
- When I opened the pool first time, it was black. I spent ton of time cleaning it, because I didn't know how to properly do that. There was about 3-5 feet of very old leaf on the bottom so seems pool wasn't used for many years
- The pump was very old, noisy and barely could move the water. I also spent a lot of time to prime it, as there was a lot of air leaks in the system. I was able to rebuild most of that above ground plumbing (from the 3rd try when I finally understood my mistakes)
- Bought a new DE filter sockets as when I opened it (finally) it was empty... Seems previous owners decided to take that with them. Also bought a robotic pool cleaner
- Replaced all the water line tiles (50 by 25 feet pool) and coping about 2 months ago as the old one was literally coming out of the walls and falling into the water. Did that without draining the water from the pool (don't ask me how) as to fill it with the water is another couple of grans at least. Now at least it looks nice...
- The latest upgrade I bought a new pump 2 weeks ago. I wanted silence and quality so got a Pentair 342001. Everything went well except the brand new pump is having a minor leak (this pool makes me tired lol)
