New member! Save me from Leslie!

Alright, 8 AM check...I added 3 jugs of bleache at 4:30 AM, pool calculator said 2.8 jugs.

FC at 8:00 measured 32.5 PPM. CC measured 0.5. We'll recheck around noon. Do we think I can back off of the pump running 24/7? Power company must love my pool!

The whole point of the pump running is to keep the chemicals mixed adequately in the pool as the chlorine eats things, as well as to filter the water and get that dead bacteria out so the water can clear up.

I know it sucks from a power bill perspective, but that pump really needs to be running full time during a SLAM.

Here it is all. It's actually very blue, and clear! The steps look a bit off, but I think it's because the plaster is old. When I brushed this AM, no clouds! I've been gone for 2 days, and my wife isn't really too interested in helping with the pool, so she ran out of bleach, and waited for me to come home! Here are my results:

FC-12
CC-0.5

I only tested those two measurements because, that's all I really need to know right now, right!?

i'll do an OCLT tonight to ensure full completion of SLAM, but I think you have all helped me get this thing under control!

I mean, I can see the screw heads, and the water is incredibly clear. I know it doesn't look brilliant like a lot of your pools, but it looks amazing to me! Quick question...there seems to be some yellow staining of the plaster. Is this normal for old plaster? It's not algae, I'm pretty sure. Also, what should I use to clean the tiles that have calcification on them?

Put a pool tablet some where the yellow stands out for about 15 mins and see what it does. If it does not do anything get some cheap vit. C tablets. Crush them up and put them in a sock and let them sit on a spot and see what happens. Let us know the results.

Tile-50/50 muriatic acid/water-spray and scrub. Move to more MA if needed. Use eye protection and know this may lower your PH some. Rinse well and enjoy your clear and pretty pool!

Be very careful with the MA if you are going to use it to get rid of the scale. The fumes are very harsh so make sure you are in a well ventilated area and always mix acid into water, not the other way around. If you get some on your skin just rinse it immediately, I don't think it will do any damage if you clean it up quickly.

I'm not trying to scare you, just wish someone had warned me the first time I used it! Got a lung full of fumes and thought I'd never breathe again!
