Hello all,
I'm a chemist by trade and new pool owner.
I was doing some research regarding the behavior of our newly installed fiberglass pool (green nails and hair) and came across a thread detailing another member's issues with copper staining. I'm seeing this on these forums as a recurrent issue and most other members advocate for replacing the pool water. Obviously I don't want to do that (I just put it in!) so I'm dead set on quantifying and removing the copper to an acceptable level.
Most of what I do at work is metals separation science in support of producing certain elements that are used for salt water "chlorine generators" and chlorine/ bleach in general (bleach people call it the chloralkali industry) so I'm hoping to leverage some of that experience.
