New Mastertemp heater wiring help

I Just bought a new pentair mastertemp 200k btu low nox natural gas heater. I had a pro hook up gas and pool plumbing. I ran conduit and electrical to 20amp 120v circuit breaker directly. I also ran 16awg 2 wire from the heater to Jandy JEP-R controller. The JEP-R has 4 inputs and a com. The heater has fireman's switch loop (fuse wire) and on the control board a 3 wire pool, spa, com terminal block. Heater lights up when loop is connected. When I take off fuse wire loop from fireman's switch on heater and replace with 2 wire spade connection and terminal block to input 4 and com on JEP-R. I turn on the remote 4 (input 4 wiring) because it is programmed to run for 30 minutes after turning off control. Heater does not light up at all. I thought it was a simple contact closure. When I simply touch the wires together to close the contact, the heater lights up. Am I missing something? It reads in the manual that it is a contact closure on the JEP-R. I only have a pool no spa so I could wire the 2 wires to com/pool on the control board but I think that requires 24v which the the Jandy does not put out unless I am mistaken. I understand relays and contact closures...this is not behaving that way. Sorry for the long post. The long and short of it, I need to know how to wire up the Jandy JEP-R to the Pentair Mastertemp 460730 model so I can turn the heater on with the JEP-R.

Thank you!

So you are attempting to use your variable speed pump control to control your gas heater? There is no option for connection to a heater from the pump controller.

What you are trying to do is not listed in the manual so I do not believe it will work as you expect.

Also, are you looking for the heater to be on all the time to heat your pool?

The connections inside the heater, fireman switch and terminal block are for connecting to a control system.

I agree you are correct. I need a double pole single throw switch. 1 switch will close the contact on the JEP-R input 4 (special control port that leaves pump running for 30min when contact re-opens), and the other pole will close the 24vac contact on the fireman's switch loop on the heater. Close both contacts, heater turns on and starts the pump. I will have to manually select temp. I haven't installed the switch yet so I don't know if the heater will automatically turn the "pool heat" on (which is all I need).
