Hi, I purchased a home in the Houston area with a pool a few months ago. I've never owned a pool before so I'm finding that this can be a lot of work. I've purchased the TF-100 salt test kit and am getting a better handle on things now. My pool had a Hayward Aqualite T-9 SWG lying next to my Hayward system cartridge filter. I didn't know what it was until I did some readintg. As you might guess, I was lead down the path of 3" salt tabs for chlorine addition. After fighting rapid loss of chlorine and some algae, I found my CYA was higher than I want to admit. I replaced a lot of water to lower CYA. Last week I converted to salt water after confirming the SWG worked. I installed the SWG and am getting a handle on the settings for that. I was using the pool store for water testing until the TF kit arrived.
