So we just bought a house a month ago and are completely new to having a pool. At first I thought this was staining so we recently tried ascorbic acid to see if it would lift stains in a spot that we tested and it seemed like it did lighten it some. So we went all in on a full Ascorbic acid treatment. I do feel like some places lightened up slightly but these dark patches and streaks are still so prominent. Could this just be mottling? I don’t know much about the care that the previous owners gave to the pool but I’m thinking it’s not a lot:( The pool is only about 4 years old and it has pebble tec finish.

Metal Magic is a sequestrant and captures metals in suspension in the water.

To remove copper from pool surfaces you need to use sulfamic acid.

Oh I gotcha! I knew it took care of metals in the water so that’s what I used after the AA treatment, but I thought it was supposed to also remove the stains from surfaces. I’ll try one of the jacks magic test kits:)

Just remember those don’t remove it from the water, they just dissolve it off the surfaces. Gotta drain and replace with fresh water to actually remove it. It figure out if that’s what it is before worrying too much about that.
