New here and getting pushback

Hello everyone. I am new to being the pool cleaner at our house and I am adopting the trouble free pool way. My husband and I removed the cover of the pool and he started getting it clean but it stayed green and cloudy and he didn’t know what he was doing wrong. This is the first time we decided to open our pool after having it for four years.

I tried to tell him it needs more chlorine because we let it get hot out before we even opening it so the pool needed to be majorly shocked. From there I decided to take it over. I’ve been slamming it for the last three days. Today is day four of slamming and I’m going to go out and get twice as much chlorinr as I think I need and hopefully make is the last day of slamming.

Husband is happy I took over but is concerned I am becoming obsessed and spending too much money. I would absolutely love some feedback letting me know if I should keep doing what I’m doing or if in fact, I’m doing this wrong. I did buy a Taylor kit but it won’t be here until tomorrow so I’m simply using test strips. The pool store near me tested my water, but they simply just used a test strip so I’m assuming that wasn’t any more accurate than what I’ve been doing.

Adding pics of before and current whole situation. Sorry for any communication errors. I am using Siri.

Welcome to TFP! How about we start with a couple basics:
- Can you post a full set of water test results?
- What test kit are you using?

Please be sure to update your signature. The article below should help.
