New fiberglass pool in Richmond Hill, ON Canada

I can see why they keep the same crews as they seem to really do good work! I hope it looks as good close up as it does in the videos!

I have a set of links for new pool owners. You might have already seen some of them but I don't want you to miss any of them:

Did you find a good test kit in your area?

Thanks everyone - appreciate the support and the opportunity to share. It felt like TFP was my therapy session - sharing progress made the wait bearable - not sure if I'm explaining this correctly. It got my mind distracted from the build/mess and instead, pool educate myself while I'm waiting; and learning from others.

I will take close ups once I lay out the sitting, eating and lounging areas. Yeah, ordered some new stuffs as well :)

Okay - so, water is cloudy. I've been running the pump 24 hours at 1750 rpm since June 22nd on good old Richmond Hill tap water.

PB dropped by today and dropped 6 ( or was it 5 ) bags of 20KG salt and shock the pool. I suppose he's doing a pool opening. Pool is about 9K Gal (34K litres) if my measurement/calculation is correct.

I see that the IC20 is set to 6%

It's been a few hours and pool is still cloudy. SWG says LOW salt - I'm told I need to wait 72 hours before trying to add any more salt. HUH?

I do not have my test kit yet, so I'll take a water sample to his store tomorrow and see what's what.

Love the videos! Slowly does it with getting the chemicals and salt in. I can imagine your salt is reading low. My 7k gallon pool was meant to have 5 bags added on start up... they dumped 9. Now my salt levels are almost double what they should be [emoji849] If you don’t have a test kit I wouldn’t do anything other than vacuum. When you get your test kit you can add liquid chlorine to get your FC up until your salt gets up to a level that your swg can work with.

Quick update. Since we've dropped 5 bags salt, and shock, the morning after, swg registered good salt, flow. Using test strips while getting my testing kit, all is fine. Water looks clearer, slightly cloudy still.
Used the pool yesterday, pool gets full sun all day. So in the morning, chlorine registers great, by early PM, chlorine strip registers below ok level. Swg is set to 6%. I wonder if it can be programmed to 8% or 10% to counter the full sun in the afternoon - or does it make sense to do that?

Installed the clear cover yesterday, and water temp only dropped 2 degrees Celsius from last night. Got the clear 14mm cover, at night lights still comes through, and I don't see the white salt marks.

Still cleaning the patio deck, have my old dining set installed, starting to take shape. I can't post more pix here, I'll check if I can share my google photos on this forum.

At some point, there will be a covered sitting area looking towards the house:

U Profile Deluxe Inground Wheel Solar Reel with 16 ft Tube | Pool Supplies Canada

Happy with it so far - I have no sag in mine even though I got the 14mm cover. Granted, I've a 12x24 cover - so not much weight to begin with. But also because the tubing is "doubled" in my case, the extension tubes are fully inside the main tube - I might even have to trim 1 ft on each end possibly.

AWESOME looking pool and area!! How big is that house???? WOWER! Glad I don't have to clean it LOL

LOVE the yard you have fixed up! When you say "covered area" where to you mean? and what kind?

Kim:kim:

I've left most of the finishing touches/landscaping for me to play around with - keeps me busy in the yard and out of the house :) Still a long way to go for "our paradise", but I'm enjoying the journey.

I want to put a covered area where I have the old bench now - bench is there as a reference point for the time being. Some reasons why I want it so far away from the house:

1. Create a "living space" view on my way out of the house
2. Gets the nicest coolest breeze all summer long
3. Distribute foot traffic/crowd management during planned parties

So debating between a 12'x14' pavillion

Looks awesome. A real nice advantage of rectangular vs freeform is the ease of putting solar cover on. I like that reel. I vote to just leave it as is. Dont cover it up.

12 x 14, you will need a permit but of course, inforcement in only complaint based so if your neighbors are cool....... IMO, there is always one. lol
One tip, build big overhangs onto the gazebo. They dont count as square footage and they keep your cushions dry. Rain never comes straight down. :)
