New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Jim,
Maybe it was just a fluke.
Ran it 3 times last night and watched it on my steps. It is much more aggressive on my steps than my old M5. Did not turn over this time.
Since I can’t find any more info on the S200 or S300 to assure me they are better, I think I will just keep this one. When I am out of town I will switch it to floor only.
I did notice when watching though, when doing water line it only seemed to move about 10-12” of tile and then go back down. In a video (YouTube) that I saw on the S200/300 looked like the side jet would open and it would do 2-3’. Was that just a promo vid?
Thanks
The S200 style did move along the waterline sideways while this one just goes up. Not sure how far it would go but it does do that outside their promo video

35,

My S200 moves along the water line between 1 and 2 feet. It is not exactly the same each time.

And.. the idea behind cleaning the water line is to remove the debris that get stuck on the tile.. They are not designed to scrub off calcium deposits or things like that.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Does your Evo only move up to the waterline and not really horizontal (like s200), like mine? Doesn’t really bother me, just want to make sure mine is like everyone else’s and working correctly since I was already having problems.

35,

Is your cleaner the same as my EVO???

I have found that I can just about throw my Dolphin S200 in the pool and it will sink and then work.

When I put the EVO in the pool, I have to 'baby' it so that it fills with water and sinks... Not that is is water tight, but it is much more water tight than my S200.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,
I have the Epic 8642iQ, which is supposed to be exactly the same as the EVO 614i except it has a clear lid and comes with a caddy.
I wait till it sinks to the bottom before I turn it on.

Capp35,
Sorry for delay on response but it has been busy.
In regard to the error code 7 you experienced, I have seen my robot's top come out of water when climbing the steps near the top but only a few seconds before it turns/floats and went back under. Perhaps this is what happened but stayed on your top step too long where it triggered the error code, just my guess, was the robot close to the steps when you found it not working any further and received the error code? Also over the past week I have been picking up a lot more silt material in the fine filter, so maybe my pool was just cleaner before, though that is hard to believe.

Eric,

As a test, see what happens if you pull the robot up to the surface and then grab it by the handle and at the other end, so that you are pulling it out kind of level..

It seems to me that something is not working..

Thanks,

Jim R.
Submerged on steps with top open. That door doesn't open or close for me, float stayed in open position even when under water. It might have worked the first year but something is wrong now. And today after running twice I had more stuff on that white grill before I pulled it up than I took out of basket. Vacuumed out maybe 2 cups of sand/decomposed leaves over two runs and there is still 10+ cups on bottom.

Need to find owners manual and see if maybe can go down warranty route or see if I can order parts. This is getting frustrating vacuuming multiple times a day every weekend and yet to get pool clear. Wish manual vacuum worked (that's a separate issue not going to derail this thread for that)
