New build in Vegas

Have to thank QingQuy. It was one of his subs off a list he gave me. Because of a small snag on my end I won't be able to have him start digging until March 13th. I want to be swimming by Memorial Day so I told him that if he could finish by May 5th I'd through in a bonus that will still put me slightly ($500) below where my bids came out.

So I think this may be a first for the site. I'm sure that someone will let me know if I'm wrong but I will document most of this build from the air. I always like an excuse to fly the drone. I will attach a few before puctures of the yard in its current state. The current state is neglected. Once it bacame clear this project was going to happen and the yard would becompletely torn out, I pretty much stopped all maintenance.

Build will be documented with the flying pumpkin. Think it will be a cool perspective on the progress of the build.

So pool will be going where the play set currently is. Pool area will take half the yard. Hot tub will get a new location and be incorporated into the pool. Grass will be replaced with synthetic turf. We will add approx. 900 feet of new deck to the existing 300 in the covered patio.

And a picture of the Las Vegas Strip from about 20 miles away and 400' above my house.

Demo begins tomorrow morning!

Kim,

i have always been been a fan of the cool feel of grass under my feet. However, I'm very excited at the prospect of never mowing grass again. Luckily, my one and only sub has a three year old and wants to take the play set. It's well used and I was not looking forward to relocating it.

Awesome view point! If you want some more flight time, you're more than welcome to stop by and take some aerial views of my house once I get it all done, as that would be very cool!

The dig is one of the most exciting parts of the whole thing. It gets "real", and there's no turning back from there...:) Are you expecting any caliche?

Fun. You can come take some aerial shots of ours. Completed in June 2016 and google hasn't updated their aerial shots yet. Am I the only one who checks those things out? [emoji12] haha

I hear you on the cool feel of grass on your feet BUT I got way more than I bargained for-6.5 acres!!! Of course some is not grass-pond, garage, house, pool and poll house but............there is a LOT of grass. Good thing I am a teacher so can spend some quality time on the mower in the summer.

That is a win-win for the play set!

Kim, with all that acreage, you should get some hooved friends! Horses, goats, cows, donkeys, etc. They really are awesome and goats do great for mowing.

Imaz, very cool perspective! Hubby may want a drone now after seeing this lol The digging is a super exciting part. It makes it real and not just talk! And of course, paying that first % of money! Lol

You don't have to ask twice. I love getting the drone in the air. I'm hoping no caliche. Neighbors didn't have any so I'm hoping I don't either.

That would be awesome if you really want to do that. We're new to the valley, but it seems you may be on the west side from that view of the strip? we're in the southwest, and if so, it wouldn't be too far!

I'll think good thoughts for you on the dig. We expected it at 4', and hit it about 3' or so. But the silver lining to that cloud is we'd planned on it, so it wasn't a surprise to the budget. Nothing like listening to a jackhammer for a couple days to drive home how fun that must have been for the guys digging the hole..;)

We are far northwest in the Centennial Hills area. I'll get a list of addresses and just make a loop of the city. The FAA gets a little snooty with the air space around McCarren (rightfully so) so depending on where your house is and which way the planes (money) are coming in, there could be some restrictions.

Funny how you picture things going in your head and how different the reality is. I imagined a small bobcat ripping through my yard tearing stuff up. Instead it's two guys, a pick, shovel and wheelbarrow. Hahahaha. At least it's started.
