So after a very hard design process (we were shocked by the cost of pools here in SA compared to other cities in Texas and I'm so jealous of FL and AZ!), we have decided on a design. Below are the specs. Let me know if anything causes concern because I'm far removed from the technical aspects. However, we went with a builder that has the best reputation so we are somewhat blindly following their recommendations. Also, the colors in the drawing will differ as we haven't made our selection of travertine or rock for walls/spa.

The pool shall contain 58.1 cubic yards of 4,500 PSI concrete and 4831 pounds of
steel, Grade 60, # 4 reinforcing rods complying with the American Society for Testing and Materials.


Steel 9 Inches on center both ways , grade 60 - 1/2" reinforcement.
Concrete 6 to 8 Inches thick walls and floor, 4500 PSI concrete.
Under Drain 4 Inches of washed gravel under the pool floor with 1 1/2" hydrostatic relief port. Cushions pool from sub grade movement and prevents pool flotation.
Coping Texas Crème Limestone
Tile 6 Inches of standard frost proof water line tile.
Pool Steps Included Underwater steps per plan.
Decking Square feet of topping, walks and patios.

So exciting! Glad you finally picked a design. I hope it starts getting fun again. Try not to let this stress your relationships. Any housing project can do that and deep down we all know if it doesn't get done just so it really isn't the "end of the world". Enjoy the process, each and every second of it because that's all it is, a process. At some point, this build will all be behind you - so long that you'll forget a lot of the headaches and sleepless nights that came with it. Looking forward to lots of pics!
 
Congrats on the pool! A couple things that caught my eye you may wish to consider (you can search more here in TFP if you like):
- For outdoor pools, UV/Ozone products are generally not productive and tend to cost you more $$$. Our TX sun will provide all the oxidation needs your water requires to remove combined chlorine for sanitation.
- Do you know what the single speed pump was for exactly? If just for cleaning or occasional use, that may be fine. But if it's used for any water circulation or ran on a frequent basis, you may want to consider a 2-speed to save energy costs. My 2-speed is on low virtually 99% of the time and only on high for vacuuming or heaving swimming.
- You might also evaluate the placement of the equipment pad. If it's on the west side, our summer sun will be brutal on that area. I actually ended-up fabricating a small patio cover enclosure for my pad.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, we are excited about finally moving to the next phase. They are coming out Monday to outline the pool in our yard. Then we will send everything off to the HOA for approval!

We will look into the Robot and the Ozone. Thanks for bringing that to our attention! Our builder won't do anything with salt water (I assume that is SWG).

I think the variable pump is for the pool and the single pump is for the bubblers. Would I need a two speed for the bubblers?

The pad will be on the East side of the house so I hope we are good!!
 
Good to hear. Yes, salt would be the SWG. Some builders seem to shy away claiming excessive corrosion or problems with locally-obtained stone used for the coping. Not a real concern here at TFP, but some in the industry seem to think so. No worries, there are other options for chlorinating later to include aftermarket SWG installation is you chose to do so. Just remember that if it's not a SWG, then liquid chlorination is a must - either automated or simply adding x-amount of regular bleach to maintain the proper FC level. Never rely on the tabs/pucks. :) If the single speed is for the bubblers, then you should be fine as I wouldn't think they would be on all the time. Exciting times I know.
