New build in NRH, TX

You need to become a supporting member for more photo space AND a discount on the test kit! You can also use photo bucket (IMG code).

So long as you are there when the truck pulls up and can check for the correct color and any extras you will be good. Really no need (except it is fun to watch) to be there for the whole plaster shoot.

Plaster started this morning on schedule. Below are some pics from the process. I took some video also, going to figure out how to include that here at some point. It was fun to watch the crew work--fascinating process. We decided to add a few marker tiles to the steps and benches for aesthetics/safety--tough to see in the pics, as they were just starting to clear them off as I had to leave. The crew just took the extra tile from the water line and cut it into smaller squares. Should blend in nicely with the color of the finish.

They were just starting hard trowel stage when I had to leave. Foreman said they'll acid wash and pressure spray this afternoon, and start the fill this evening. Seems really fast based on my reading of other experiences, but they're the licensed installers for this product, not me!

PRETTY! I can't wait to see the marker tile! I love that idea of using smaller pieces of the other time for this.

That is fast but is okay do it this fast. Most of the time they have to move to the next pool so.........it takes a little longer.

One thing that you might see with the cut marker tiles (though it is absolutely not a problem) is that the edges with the cuts will look slightly different from the factory tile edges. No one will notice except you. The factory edges are slightly beveled in most cases while the cut edges will be crisp. And depending on how heavy handed they are at cleaning the plaster/haze off of them, there could be a slight variance on how the edge feels - but maybe not at all.

Very exciting day!!

bmoreswim, you're exactly right. Our tile has a beveled and metallic colored edge, so two sides of each marker tile are not consistent. Thankfully, the crew laid all of the tiles properly, with consistent orientation, so it's really tough to tell.

Here's another pic of the pool the foreman sent me a few minutes ago--acid wash and pressure spray is done, water is going in the pool as I type this.

I see steel blue water in your future...(after the initial green tint goes away).

And hey, where are the "my pool is full" pics?!?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the leaves were bothering me, we got a nasty cold front here in the area with some serious wind, and all my oak trees dumped half their leaves...ugh. Anyhow, PB cleaned and brushed the pool today and added 9 gallons of acid to start the acid bath. I'm going to test pH tonight just for the fun of it to see where it is. Let the brushing begin!!

Tested pH tonight for kicks, looks to be around 6.0. Gave it a good brush, and yes, not a bad workout! Also got what leaves were in there skimmed and out. Looked like one leaf had left a slight stain on the tanning ledge, but a little elbow grease with the brush got it out. There's some light streaking in the pool from the acid wash and pressure spray in a couple of spots by the steps, wife tells me the start up tech said it should be gone in 5-7 days with the acid bath. We shall see...

Based on the box of chemicals on my back patio, it looks like the initial chlorination will be with calcium hypo, so that should bring my low CH up pretty quickly. Big bucket of CYA there too. Haven't had a chance to talk to the tech in person yet to get the specifics, but will this weekend. Equipment startup and programming will be Monday. I think I've surprised him a bit with all my questions--TFP has made me quite a bit better informed than the PB's typical client ;)

It is neat to see their faces when you ask the right questions AND know the answers!

I would show him your test kit. THAT will surprise him for sure!

We had one build a couple of summers back where the PB was so impressed with what she knew and the test kit that he tells his new pool owners about TFP! He even let he take over care of the pool early with him providing the chemicals. She would text him her test results and what she thought she should do. She was always correct so............win-win for both of them.

Have a towel tumbling in the dryer for when he is able to jump in! I want pictures also! FUN times!

Battle of the leaves is real hard when you have to do it all by hand. Soon you will have the help of the equipment you paid for to help you.

Remember you should only use the manual vacuum (no wheels) for about 30 days or so while the plaster cures all the way.
