New Aqua Trol SWG is dead

We are three weeks into our first pool and so far it has been pretty "trouble free", up until today. This morning I found our SWG control box not working. It was running fine last night until 7:00 when the timer is set to turn the pump off. This morning, no display, no lights, no power to the pump. It did keep the time however. We did have a thunderstorm last night but surely these things are built to withstand mother nature?

I read some posts on this forum and I checked the 20A fuse and it looks to be fine. Nothing appears to be damaged inside the box. The pump powers on fine by itself. And I tried the SWG box with different outlets. I do get the click and the faint hum when I plug it in, but never any lights or display.

I guess I will be calling the pool store and/or Hayward in the morning. Any suggestions on how to go about getting this repaired or replaced under warranty quickly?

Also, any suggestions on how much bleach to add to the pool in the meantime, and how frequently? I did have the water tested at the store yesterday afternoon and the FC was 1.1 and the CYA was 51.

I would call whoever sold you or installed the SWG first.

Use bleach to maintain the FC while the SWG is off. Chlorine needs to be maintained at target for your CYA and the [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. Use PoolMath to calculate how much bleach to add.

Replacement Aqua Trol came in today. Since it was within 30 days of original installation, the pool store took care of it. Unfortunately it took almost 2 weeks, so I had to learn how to keep the FC up the manual way.
