New and first time pool owner

Hello all,

We live in Portland, OR. This is our first time owning a pool. Our pool guy we initially had suddenly stopped answering our texts. After two months, I was able to get on another pool guy’s schedule and haven’t heard back from him after he helped us replace our cracked three way valve diverter and plumbing lines.
It’s end of July and I can’t believe my pool is not ready to swim in and it’s driving me insane.
The algae in my pool is slowly dying off and my pool is still a teal and cloudy color.
My filter doesn’t have a backwash option and I been trying to figure out how to best drain my Pentair filter without flooding the area as there are electric outlet lower than the filter itself (oddly placed furnace and pool equipments from previous owner).

Eventually we would like to replumb everything above ground as the pool equipment is basement level.

I want to use the pool this summer and get this pool to clear blue water before the season ends for us as it is short.

I will see you all around and had read through many forums already.

Currently waiting for the TF 100 kit.

Firstly, Welcome.
Secondly, I would aim to be adding at least 5ppm/Day FC to your pool until your test kit arrives ( about 1.5gal of 10% Liquid Chlorine, about a gallon of 12 %, give or take)
Post pictures of your pool pad, and the experts here can probably advise on how to drain/clean etc the filters - I have a different setup so I'm not familiar.

Yeah I use to have a pool guy and in process of trying to contact the new one I found. Eventually I do want to learn and maintain it myself.

Looks like you have an inline chlorinator which was probably how the previous "pool-guy" was maintaining the chlorine levels, but that always makes us nervous around CYA levels.

The TFP system in a nutshell is simple. Maintain your Free Chlorine and CYA levels within a specific range, brush/vaccuum regularly and enjoy.
