New above ground pool put in over week and a half...due to 5 days of nonstop rain/mud, a lost skimmer during shipment by the freight company, and fixing some issues post rain to the AGP, I am now diving into water testing. Pool filled by hose, city water, water NO CHEMICALS added. I am using the K2006C test kit - 24' x 54" (assuming 13,500 gal capacity). I have also noticed a slimy feeling on the walls of the pool. I brushed well this morning and am going to buy a vac attachment to vac. today.

**Please note this was first run at testing with the K2006C or pool water at allll for that matter lol
Results:
FC = 0.4 ppm
PH = 7.0
TA = 140 ppm
CYA = 0 (black dot never disappeared)

I added to pool math and got results but wanted to check with the forum. My biggest question is should I SLAM due to the slimy Algae or bacteria forming?? or go with the normal chlorine result. Thank you to this forum as it is an awesome resource for pool newbies like me!

You need to add chlorine now!!! Add 1 gallon of 10% liquid chlorine as soon as you can. Get 30 ppm worth of CYA dissolving using the sock method. Keep the FC level based on a 30 ppm CYA using the FC/CYA Levels

Have you added salt yet?

I have some chlorine jugs, will add now. I am not adding the SWG until after a patio addition. Going to move pump and filter and bury lines for final location, so I will be adding liq chlorine for a few weeks. Thank you for your help!

Latest test results are interesting

FC = 1.2
CYA= 55
PH = 7.4
TA = 13

I put in the recommended amount of stabilizer about 4 hrs ago. Also added a jug of chlorine. Says I need to add three jugs now.

Did you add stabilizer? Hard to go from 0 to 40 ppm CYA in a day.

Otherwise all is good. Keep adding chlorine as needed to maintain the FC based on the FC/CYA Levels

Don't add anymore stabilizer as you need to wait a good 24 hours and retest. You also have to check your "CC" to see where the water is at that will tell you more about how the water is doing along with how much the FC drops daily.
