New 1HP motor runs about 5 seconds then stops and just hums.

I thought I'd replaced this thing over the years enough times not to mess it up but either the motor is bad right out of the box or I wired it wrong (if that would even cause this issue). The L1/L2 legs were 180 out from the one that it replaced but I put them on their respective posts (or at least I thought I did).

I can reach through the pump housing and rotate the motor by turning the impeller with my fingers.

Any input is appreciated.

What model pump and motor are we discussing?

The pump running on 120V or 240V?

Posting so others may see the cause. I installed the seal backward. Seal seized.
