Neutral for Pool Light Switch

That is often what happens with electrical work. It is often not as easy as you expected.

I think I have it traced out now. All the greens go to grounds in case I missed on in the drawing. The white wire going to the fuse box is the one I attempted to splice into when wiring the smart switch.

I see the way things are wired. Ignore the green wires. They are all grounds. The blue circuit is always on and powers the GFCI outlet. The green circuit takes power from the GFCI and is switched to power the lights.

You have a white wire neutral on the green circuit and a white wire neutral on the blue circuit. I suspect you connected your smart switch neutral to the blue circuit neutral. You need to find a connection to the white neutral on the green circuit which matches with the hot wire side. Crossing the green circuit hot wire with the blue circuit neutral through the smart switch is what caused the GFCI to fault.

As the Ghostbusters said, don’t cross the streams. ;)

You might want to look into Lutron Caseta switches.. they do not require a neutral wire and might be easier than trying to get what you have working.
