Need to fix as i know it's not right

Hi Everyone,
Just had a pool installed after many years of waiting and i am now left with some pretty big messes to fix as i'm pretty much done with the pool builder.


If anyone could help with some guidance on this main issue i have

As you can see from the cement work done around the fiberglass stairs, what would be the proper method to finishing this and have it look good

In terms of liner install to the stairs, does this picture look correct or could it have been done better?

Any help or comments are appreciated

It could have been done better.

Once you put furniture, umbrellas, tables, and planters around the pool no one is going to be examining the rough edges.

I would just leave it the way it is.

A decent masonry man with a 4 1/4 inch grinder can help.

The crack can be filled close to the top with backer rod (foam) and then self-leveling caulk will seal it off. That will take a lot of caulk.

yes think with a grinder and some care could see those rough edges reduced. Perhaps some thin ply cut to the stairs arching profile can save the odd slip with the grinder.

Squeeze some expansion foam in the gap then polyurethane (sikaflex) an even joint over the top. You should be able to find a grey that matches pretty close. Using making tape, a paddle pop stick, and detergent in a spray bottle you should be able to get an even neat looking joint.

On another note... here is the dog's breakfast


This will all get re-plumbed and equipment moved around before we start up the pool next year. needs to pass town inspection before i can move things around.
I've already noticed that it takes the heater 2-3 startups to ignite because i think of the flow rate entering the heater as you see of the 2- 90 elbows restricting the flow.
Through some reading i will also be adding a "heater bypass" when i re-plumb
