Looking at the manual it mentions capping off the pipes if I need to? Do I need to, or is simply turning the pool off ok? I’ve never disconnected this before. I don’t think I have any caps so what would I need to purchase?

Turn off pool and simply unscrew the unions on each side.
Why do you think you need to clean however? Are you having issues?

Cleaning a SWCG unnecessarily just removes the rare earth metals that make it work. It shortens the life.

With low calcium and TA, your cell should never need cleaning. It's good to check it once a year, just because, but it'll be clean everytime.

You're looking for a toothpaste like buildup on the plates.

I think the cell might be nearing its end of life, i’m not sure. It occasionally wants me to ad salt (red light), and sometimes the light will go off even if I don’t. A couple of days ago the “nearing end” light came on. Then the clean light came on. Then, both lights went away (all green lights on the system). Today it’s back to saying clean it. So i was going to see if that helped.
