I am slamming to get rid of algae that was growing in my waterfall pump and filter. We don't use it often and I didn't catch that it was growing so profusely. Second day of slam. Have cleaned out the pumps and filters.i am running the waterfall as much a possible but cannot run it constantly as it trips a breaker after a couple of hours. The pump gets the afternoon sun. I want to be sure I got all the algae. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Pool is and has been crystal clear. The SWG wasn't maintaining the chlorine which is why I went on a mission to find out why.

Thanks! Linda

Why does your waterfall pump trip the breaker? Get that fixed. Pump should be able to run 24/7.

Running the waterfall for just a few hours lets the algae regrow in between. In addition if you cant brush the algae you can’t break the biofilm allowing the chlorine to attack it.

Post pics of the waterfall algae areas.

Post your water chemistry.

Not sure why it trips but I think it gets too hot as it only has tripped a couple of times and it's been when we have run it for a couple of hours and the sun it hitting the pump. Just recently happened at a swim party and then as I have slammed the pool. Have called the electrician but he hasn't been out to look at it yet.

No pics to post as the algae was in the filter (which I throughly scrubbed and let sit in bleach water for a few hours, and there was some in and under the basket in the pump. I throughly cleaned and scrubbed that out to too to break the biofilm. My concern is the pvc plumbing in between the pump and waterfall. I can't see that or get to it obviously.

Last night I didn't lose any chlorine, and as originally posted, the water has been clear. From 8:30 am to 2 pm I've lost 9 ppm. Pool is in a full sun from about 9:30 am until about 4 pm or so.

Water chaemistry before starting the slam
FC: 4
CC: .5
PH: 7.8 (added acid to get it down to 7.4 before I added liquid chlorine 10%)
